Mercantile Mutual Global Funds Management Pty Ltd is a litigation funding institution based in Melbourne, Australia. We deploy capital to claims with genuine legal merit and commercial value — and we only succeed when our funded parties succeed.
Who we are
We are a professional provider of litigation funding and legal finance. Our work is to assess disputed commercial situations, to understand their legal and commercial substance, and to provide the capital that allows pursuit of claims that might otherwise never be advanced.
We are not a law firm. We do not provide legal advice, appear in proceedings, or represent clients. We operate as a funding counterparty, working alongside litigants and their legal teams to share the financial risk of litigation.
Our investment approach
Every matter we consider is examined through two lenses that operate together. The first is legal: is there a sound legal basis for the claim, and is it capable of a successful outcome? The second is commercial: is the claim worth pursuing, are the likely returns proportionate to the risk, and can any judgment realistically be recovered?
This discipline means we are selective. Not every meritorious claim meets our criteria, and we are transparent about that from the outset. Where we do invest, our funding is non-recourse: subject to the terms of each funding agreement and any required court or regulatory approval, you do not repay us out of pocket if the claim is unsuccessful.
